Hello! I’m back, and I’m strongly recommending that everyone take a month off from their blogs!
Okay, not everyone, only people who are feeling overwhelmed and unfocused and like the thing they really need most is to take a month off and regroup. If you fit that description, I highly recommend going for it. It’s just what I needed. I have so many plans, so many irons in the fire, so many big-hearted, doodly ideas to manifest. Honestly, I still feel overwhelmed. But more focused now, and there’s definitely something to be said for that.
I spent much of June drawing coloring pages, which I will very soon assemble into a coloring book.
Each page will include a hand-lettered message like, “Bloom wild,” “It’s a good day for shenanigans,” “Own your weird,” and “Believe some impossible things today.”
My hope is that I can create a coloring book that will be challenging and meditative enough to interest adults, but fun and whimsical enough to draw in younger colorists too.
I’ve been illustrating with an eye toward creatives… and also people who are trying to find their way back to their creativity… and also people who just love to color (which I think might be everyone I know).
Here’s what 26 coloring pages look like before they get combined into a single coloring book.
Four more to go, I think, and then it’s off to the presses. Stay tuned!
And there’s much more to come. I have some really fun things in the works that I can’t wait to share with you.
In the meantime, if we’re not friends on Facebook, you should send me a request. I play a lot over there. And if you’re interested in watching my work in progress, follow me on Instagram. I post art-in-the-making pretty much daily there.
I hope you had a happy June. I missed you!
p.s. We donated another $1,150 to Lisa Adams’s Sloan Kettering Metastatic Breast Cancer Research fund, for a total of $4,150. I think that’s remarkable. I know Lisa would have been ecstatic. Thank you so much to everyone who bought art for the cause.
