Online courses are here!

I'm super excited to launch my first online courses!

In these classes, I'll be using a variety of mediums - chalk, watercolor, ink, and digital - to teach techniques in lettering and illustration, but always with a fun, whimsical, nontraditional twist. As important as the techniques themselves, I want to give people permission to play and experiment. Art should fill your heart and soul, not stress you out. The rules are less important than the joy of creation, yeah? Not to mention, the wonderful excitement of realizing you can, in fact, do the thing.

To that end, one of my first classes is my Easy Chalkboard Sign-making workshop. Think of this class as a creative hack for chalkboard sign-making, perfect for literally any skill level.

I'll teach you how to take any illustration (or photo, or printed font) and make it into chalkboard art. Here's one of my early illustrations made into a super fun chalkboard sign.

Over the course of nine videos, I'll show you, step by step, my incredibly easy method for transferring printed art from paper to board. I've used this  technique to create some of my favorite chalkboards - like this one, which began as a coloring page in my Inkspirations For Women book.

Once you learn how to transfer the image, I'll teach you how to use chalk and chalk markers to add details, color, and shading that will make the art uniquely yours.

Once you've taken the class with me, you'll have access to tons of free, downloadable content, including additional, regularly updated chalkboard illustrations, specifically designed for workshop attendees. For example, I just added this one - Dwell in Possibility - to the collection of downloadable images.

I'm really excited about these online courses. Besides the Chalkboard sign-making class, there are two free tutorials - one that will teach you how to choose the right chalkboard for your project, and the other, how to create a beautiful, intricate mandala.

Over the next weeks and months, I'll be releasing many more courses and free tutorials. Next up is my Whimsical Watercolor Lettering class, in which I'll be teaching you basic lettering rules and watercolor techniques, and then showing you how to break all those rules to create wildly fun lettering that is uniquely yours.

Finally, I'm really interested in hearing from you. If you have suggestions for classes you'd like me to offer, please let me know. I wish I could travel the world offering art classes to like-hearted souls, but this is the next best thing.

Let's play!
