Since my mom broke her hip last April, I’ve spent a lot of time with her. At first that was because she needed me while she convalesced, went to rehab, and figured out the ever-changing landscape of what she could and couldn’t do. Then it was to help get my father and her to their various appointments. Now life is more or less back to normal at my parents’ house, but I still go there almost every week, because I want to. Because I’ve learned more about my mom in the past year than I ever knew about her before. She’s not a very talkative person, especially about herself. You have to be around her a lot before, every once in a while, a story will pop out or a memory will be shared.
I’m so grateful for this time with her, so I drew a big Mother’s Day illustration of things I love about her.
Feel free to tell me what you love about your mom (whether she’s here physically or here in your heart). I adore good (funny, sweet, outrageous, surprising, wonderful) mom stories.
