Mindful Living is here (plus, freebies)

Via eyes-closed, wand-wielding, magic,

winners have been picked!

I have so many things I want to write about now, so much on my mind – the aftermath of an election that has left the country more divided than ever (and left me uncharacteristically pessimistic); my father’s death in December, our complicated relationship, and the unwieldy nature of grief; my plans and wishes for the year ahead; the magic healing power of art and creative exploration…

I will be writing (and illustrating) about all of that in the weeks ahead. For now though, honestly, I’m feeling tender and raw, so I’m sharing something easier.

I’m very proud of the latest Inkspirations coloring book, Mindful Living, which is a collaboration between my publisher, HCI Books, and AARP. It is available January 3rd online and in stores where coloring books are sold.

I think it’s the most beautiful coloring book I’ve illustrated, and each page is designed to foster a sense of calm while stirring your creativity.

To celebrate the release of Mindful Living, I’m giving away two coloring books. If you live in the U.S., comment on this post before January 13th for a chance to win!

And, in the meantime, you can download this illustration from the book on my Coloring Page.

Mindful Living is HCI’s second collaboration with AARP. The first (which I also illustrated) is the small, portable coloring book, Create While You Wait, released in November. Its 5×7 size is perfect for purses and backpacks, so you can carry it along with you wherever you go.

Okay, that’s all for now; happy new year, everyone. I don’t know what 2017 has in store for us, but here’s what I do know: The answer, always, is love. Let’s arm ourselves with it and face whatever comes together.

  14. Jeri Perkins on January 2, 2017 at 4:37 pm

Has taken me a long time to realize and believe that focusing on me is not selfish, but essential. 2017 is going to be the year of focus and freedom! Oh the coloring to be done.

Grief can kidnap us when we worry about appropriate expression. Not one aspect of living, loving, losing, or letting go is linear, explore at your place and in your own way, the universe is holding you tight

    • j on January 2, 2017 at 6:00 pm

I couldn’t possibly love this comment more. Thank you a gazillion times. xox
