Make Someone's Day

So, it’s Monday, time to Beckon the Lovely at Zebra Sounds. But first… big news! Today marks the half way point on my list of lovely things. Here’s how it looks in list form (because you know I love lists and I’ve grown fond of strikethrough):

  1. Make a grand entrance
  2. Make a friend
  3. Make something pretty
  4. Kiss and make up (sort of)
  5. Make do with what I have
  6. Make someone’s day
  7. Make music
  8. Make it up as I go
  9. Make peace
  10. Make out
  11. Make a splash
  12. Make a movie

Today, I’m sort of cheating. I didn’t so much make anyone’s day as all of you made mine. I’m always a little nervous when I write a post asking for something. Before I hit “publish” I have that sinking feeling, like maybe I’m throwing a party to which no one will come. But Thursday, I invited everyone to send me images of what represents happiness to them, and look at all I got!

I love these pictures. Most of you wrote me notes about why your image touched you, but I think the words are unnecessary. The images speak for themselves. The (amazing, stupendous, only-took-me-a-couple-of-days-to-figure-out-the-software) collage is a little bit small, but just click it to see it bigger.

So, hey everybody thanks for totally making my day. I owe you big time.

Up next… Make music. (Be afraid. I have no musical talent at all.)

And now for something completely different… I love this time lapse film of artists collaborating on a painting. Watch till the end. It’s very cute.

I am afraid , a little, FOR you.
I also have no musical talent.
However, in your own creative way, I just know you’ll meet this challenge.

    Good morning Judy.
Can this go in the things that make me smile category too?

Can’t wait for the next installment.

Making music with (if true) no musical talent might call for lots of wine first…

    Or if it’s a video….

Just tight pants, high heels and a low cut top….

    happy Monday cutie pie.

Tina, Thank you for the vote of confidence. (Ear plugs will be available.)

Karen, Oh, it’s true. (Think the wine would have to be for anyone listening!) Thank you for the advice though. That’ll be my safety net.

  4. Linda on September 7, 2009 at 8:46 am

    Does Lexi sing?

  5. Estrella Azul on September 7, 2009 at 9:36 am

I think you’ve made many people’s day so many times that we’ll forgive you for sort of cheating.
AND this collage of our photos probably makes the day of those who sent the photos so at least in my mind it’s only 1% cheating 🙂
    It’s a very nice collage!

    Have a great week! Hugs!

Linda, Better than I do! Hmmmm…

Estrella, I ran out of time on the collage, but I think I can have some fun with Picassa. Shenanigans ahead!

Now, now, now, we don’t think of it as cheating, it is exercising your creative license. All of your readers allow for that, obviously when we let you get away with “Kiss and make up.” (raised eyebrow)

Your silliness and your creativity is what keeps us tuned in.

I don’t bother trying to guess what you will come up with for the items on the list and you have always delighted me in your portrayal of lovely. You, my dear, being so lovely yourself tend to just produce lovely things.

I am sure wine will not be NEEDED by your readers/listeners for your “musical lovely” it will just be desired to assist us in enjoying the fruit of your labor. I know no matter what you do—it will be awesome. Even if it involves a bit of trickery or stretching of the definition of music. But I know it will be lovely. Can’t wait!

wonderful! and you made my day by reminding me that i’ve been wanting to experiment with collage, too. maybe i’ll create one for my lovely list.

looking forward to your duet with lexi – or whatever lovely music you beckon ! 🙂

  9. BOBBY on September 7, 2009 at 5:12 pm

I figure you can always stand in the driveway with a boom box over your head as it plays “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel…..oh wait, that seems familiar, maybe you should try something else?!

Oh well, I will be looking forward to the musical stylings of Judy in the next Beckon the Lovely! Just remember, no one likes lip-synching !

  10. judy on September 7, 2009 at 5:34 pm

Terre, Right! I always forget to claim creative license. Music will involve a bit of stretching the definition, I’m sure! I can hardly to wait to see what I come up with. 😉

jb, Lexi turned me down. She says she only sings solo. Oh yeah, go play. I had fun with collage.

Bobby, People are always confusing me and John Cusack. It’s not until I speak that they realize their mistake. (It’s sad for me.)

Perhaps you can use percussion in next week’s installment. That’s still music in a rhythm-sort-of way.

…and thanks for the link to the White House pictures. I enjoyed that little distraction very much.

Beautiful, Judy!!!! I’m so proud and excited that I got to be part of your happiness collage.

And well done on your BTL list, woman! You are a total inspiration.

I haven’t even started my list. But instead of berating myself for that, I’m just going to enjoy yours for now. Thank you for Beckoning the Lovely for all us lucky readers!

  13. judy on September 8, 2009 at 8:20 am

Kid, Actually, you may have just spawned an idea. Stay tuned!

Milli, I’m becoming more and more convinced that we’re all beckoning the lovely every day (but most of us aren’t crazy enough to try to work from a list)! Thank you for helping me!

[…] I had no idea how much fun this project would be. I mean, I wore face paint, hiked the SF shore, made a collage, drank a cucumber martinni (or […]
