It’s Easy
I lied. The word today is one of the ones I said I wouldn’t do, but it’s been on my mind all week for a lot of reasons. And that’s okay… because, of course, it’s all you need.

Perfect. Beautiful. You are… Full of it.
Full of love!
I am glad you decided to share the love. It is lovely. I really love the “v”.
Here’s the link for the Beatles “All You Need is Love” aka Love, Love, Love
I think love is my favorite word. Period. So I am very glad you did it, J. And it’s really quite beautiful!
Invisible is AMAZING!! I loved it more than the original Zebra Sounds, I think. Especially the visual of her apartment filling up with tears. Superb, J!!
Excellent Post!! *hugs* Dani
We love you too!
What @gourmetlawyer said! Also – Love is always a good word, it’s never trite or predictable when it is used sincerely, IMHO. Very nice, I’m ‘loving’ these words!
“Invisible” is heartbreaking. Nice job.
Becky, And for once, “full of it” is a good thing! 😉
Terre, I know. I love the V too. I still have a lot of cool letters. Have to decide whether or not to keep going…
Dani, Thank you, and yeah… it’s a really, really good word. <3
Walker, Can't get enough of you and your puka shells, baby.
Caroline, Timing is everything. THIS week, it wasn't trite or predictable. 😉
Linda, Thank you.
i love it! especially the v, and the l, and the e and the o… okay, i love them all. but you most. 🙂
jb, I hate how you are so hard to please! 😉 Love you back!
You’ve always been the definitive “Hey Jude” for me. Unfortunately the closest Beatles song that mimics my own life is “when I’m 64”. Losing my hair is the poignant piece of that 😉
Well, I vote for keep going. If you are wondering, maybe don’t do it every week, would that feel right? Just do it when you feel you need to? (shrug) I don’t know, I am just trying to give you ideas—because to me it is kinda a no-brainer to keep going, but . . . .
LOVE this one too, you’re really good at this!
Light is what you bring
Overwhelming our hearts
Voice of the soul
Enjoying your words
And I enjoyed “invisible” I can definitely relate to that
Loved “Invisible” loved loved loved it.
I was secretly hoping you would change your mind and do “love”.
It is perfect. The picture and the word.
(I love the L and V! unpredictable)
Hmmm, all I know is that if I had said, “hey J, you are…full of it” I am pretty sure I would have taken some heat! Just another shining example of those double standards everyone was in a tizzy over, sheeesh! haha!
Full of love.
Full of love.
don’t take all the fun out of it — I loved it as it was!ha!
John, I am quite happy to be the definitive Hey Jude (who cares if the song’s about a boy)!
Terre, Yes maybe in an as-it-happens sort of way. Take the pressure off. (Thank you for wanting to see more!)
Estrella, Thank you!
Simon, You are awesome. Thank you!
Karen, Big smile. I was getting at some “stuff” with Invisible. I’m so moved by the response.
Hippiechick, I was secretly hoping that too. 😉
Bobby, Except here on ZS, the double is not about how I treat men versus women, but how I treat you versus everyone else. ((Bobby))
that absolutely works for me!!
ok so i just read Invisible and for the last 20 minutes i’ve been trying to comment on this piece, ps you should allow strangers the ability to send you messages, my 20 minutes would have been shortened to 10, but anywho.
Invisible was Fantastic, you really tapped into the unsubtly of meeting people and moving into new places. i grew up in a close knit community where everyone knows everyone and i got a feeling reading that you were new to a larger city and didn’t know the feel or flow of getting to know people in your apartment.
If you have books i want to know, your writing had me completely captivated, and I’m a hard critic! ps whoever said good things happened to those that wait, never lived.
*HUG*
Hi, Luke . Invisible was published by Making Me Mag, so there isn’t a way to write me from there. But you can through this blog (zebrasoundsj [at] gmail [dot] com). And yes, I’m learning you’re right. Life is too short to wait. Thank you for taking the time to come here and comment. And hugs are always appreciated!
Powerful thoughts from you today. It’s hard to be Invisible when you love your neighbor. That’s the power of love.
Make someone Visible today. Love.
Beautiful, all of it. Every word, every letter. Invisible was like reading spun gold. You amaze and delight me.
Seriously, folks. Go read “Invisible”.
Amazing
oh, as to your “Invisible” piece, I would have noticed you right off. Because at Starbucks I always turn and ask the person behind me if I can treat them to their coffee!
so when i was reading Invisible i thought that there was an underlying love story myself, but i think the story is better off without the drive of love. think about your first day of school, that gut rotting fear that you wont be known or acknowledged by those around you.
“I’m not invisible at work, but it’s not the kind of place where people talk about the planet”
this line really struck out to me though, because it’s drawing a line between people knowing you and having friends that know you! It’s just pure greatness though. As a college student I am giving you the stamp of “Best essay I’ve read all year”!
I loved Invisible, but I am just wondering, would you consider it a piece of fiction… or creative non-fiction?
bnthotful, Thank you for linking my ideas together far better than I could have! I love the idea of making someone visible. Could be a March project for me. 🙂
Joanne, Wow. Thank you so much.
George, *mwha*
Bobby, Good to know.
Luke, I deliberately stayed away from the romance side of it for the same reason you ultimately did when reading it. I think the issue of loneliness is more profound than a romance would have made it. Thank you for your high praise. Wow.
Renee, I consider it fictional. The details, as written, are made up. The emotional content is something else altogether. I think the reason the piece resonated for so many is that the feeling of isolation, of invisibility, is more universal than even I realized.
