Doodled in the name of love (part 2)

We’re sending February off with a big, loving, doodly bang! Thank you to everyone who sent me doodles in February, especially the doodles for this post, which I repeatedly forgot to remind anyone about. I’m so grateful for all of you who, when I say, “Come play!” jump right in, with your whole big, colorful, gorgeous hearts and souls.

Nicci Yang (I love how there’s a whole story here in a single doodle.)

J — these are absolutely fabulous! I’m so glad your friends jumped in, and though I didn’t for this post, I promise to at least doodle for myself a bit more in the next few weeks! Just love this, and love you!

    • j on March 1, 2013 at 9:02 am

Thank you, Nancy. I’m really glad for the people who jumped in too since I kept forgetting to make noise about the upcoming post. It’s been crazy here too, I was coloring my doodle at 11 pm the night before I posted! (Might be why I was so enchanted with just coloring in the hearts of my tree!)

Send me doodles any time. I love getting them, and I’ve got the community doodle page to fill to overflowing. I’m also working on a post to talk about the “supersonic creative zen” of doodling. Stay tuned!

omg omg omg…love love love love love!! xoxoxoxo

    • j on March 1, 2013 at 9:05 am

That made me laugh. Thank you, Rita.

  3. Becky on February 28, 2013 at 3:29 pm

Had to break through my fear to comment because…. they’re all so very very amazing, but wow — the “pieces of me” and the “letting go” ones by Nicci are just what I needed in such a terrifying confusing time.
I can’t thank either of you more than I am now, I hope you feel my gratitude.

    • Nicci on March 1, 2013 at 7:28 am

Thanks for saying that, Becky. It was fun doodling, even a bit frustrating, but definitely cathartic. And, I think that’s what J does best for me. It’s nice to be reminded that we aren’t all alone in love.

    • j on March 1, 2013 at 9:10 am

Becky, I know! Who knew Nicci has this secret super-doodler talent?!
      Nicci, Aw. xo

  4. Joanne Marie Firth on February 28, 2013 at 3:46 pm

j, I can’t tell you how wonderfully refreshing it is to scroll down through these amazing doodles. There is something so powerful about them that they reach way deep inside and push the joy to the surface. I actually feel lighter and more refreshed after looking at them. Each one is a perfect gem of what love feels like. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for creating and sharing this special work. I’m now off to doodle because I feel so inspired, thanks to you! xo

    • j on March 1, 2013 at 9:13 am

“Each one is a perfect gem of what love feels like.” I agree!

Thank YOU, Joanne. If I asked and no one said yes, these posts would be so much more… forgettable. I’m insanely grateful for my playmates. xo

Your captions for each doodle show so much love too!

    I think I am a word-doodler 🙂

    • j on March 1, 2013 at 9:16 am

I am too, actually. I do word associations in my mind all the time. One of the things I’ve loved about doodling though is tapping into this totally different creative place than the one where my writing comes from. It definitely feels more like play than my writing does… because I have so few expectations about what comes out.

(Though, full disclosure, the more I do it, the more expectations I find I’m having. Grrr!)

  6. Pam on February 28, 2013 at 5:31 pm

Love seeing everyone doodling. Delightful follow-up.

    • j on March 1, 2013 at 9:23 am

Ahh…such light, colorful, fun-filled goodness to end my day. I love these doodle-ly additions to your site, J. Thank you for always filling my heart & making me smile. 🙂

    • j on March 1, 2013 at 9:32 am

I could say that same exact thing to you. LOVED your post today. Knowing that someone who has faced so much ugliness looks around and says that beauty is everywhere… Perspective. Thank you for sharing that! xo

  9. jb on March 1, 2013 at 12:23 am

Wow! I LOVE these! Your heart tree with the girl and dog, and Nicci’s girl with the heart balloon – took my breath away! Wish I’d gotten to doodle this time. Very grateful to see everyone else’s creations. Just what I needed tonight. <3

    • j on March 1, 2013 at 9:29 am

I’m here for you, ss. <3

  10. David Doodleslice Cohen on March 1, 2013 at 5:27 am

So much fun and love – I’m so glad I got to be a part of it!

    • j on March 1, 2013 at 9:33 am

I like Doodleslice, by the way. Don’t know if I’ve told you that. Thank you for playing with me, David!

  11. Nicci on March 1, 2013 at 7:14 am

J, I can’t tell you how tickled Tristan & I were to see these doodles. I had to read each caption to him and, of course, he had to accompany it with his own little story. I’m amazed at what you can draw in 15 minutes. I won’t tell you how many days it took me to draw mine. Thanks for all the love, all the time & for letting us play.

Tristan said: “I’m in love with J’s tree. Pam’s dragon is sooo coool! And, there are monsters in love?”

    • Pam on March 1, 2013 at 10:05 pm

I’m glad Tristan likes the dragon. What did you answer? 🙂

  12. j on March 1, 2013 at 9:35 am

    I <3 Tristan!

I can't always draw things in 15 minutes. The tree took two drafts and WAY more than 15 minutes. The cats were done over a few days. Goofy cartoons are easier to do in 15 minutes (though I did the coloring later).

This reads like a full disclosure statement, doesn't it! 🙂

  13. Estrella Azul on March 11, 2013 at 9:40 am

Thank you for the sweet caption, j. It could also be called “this is what Estrella does instead of working”. Then again, so could reading. 😉

Really fun blog post doodles make, I wish there were even more coming up. It was nice to participate and see all this love on display.

    • j on March 12, 2013 at 8:48 am

I’m sure we’ll doodle party again, no worries! Thank you for playing, I loved your doodle!
