Butterfly Truth

It’s almost coloring book time!

Actually, I’d hoped by now it would be coloring book time, but things move more slowly than I realized when it comes to birthing coloring books. When I set out to do this, I naively thought that it was all about creating fun, encouraging illustrations for people to color. And it is, but it’s also about finding the right printer and making all kinds of printing decisions, comparing quotes and running numbers to figure out retail versus wholesale prices, getting over my fear of inventory, sizing and reformatting, and then researching and installing e-commerce options for my site.

On Facebook I said  wailed that I needed to be as successful as necessary to hire someone who would tell me ever so gently, “You just draw, j. I’ll handle all this other stuff.”

Oops sorry! Drifted off to dreamland there for a minute. I’m back now, right here, where there is still work to be done.

So, in the absence of having the coloring book (which I hope will be here waiting for you and your Sharpies in two weeks), I decided to share a sneak peek page with you. I actually just drew this yesterday, a replacement for a page I was less crazy about. (You can see why I need to get all this all out to the printer ASAP; otherwise, I will tinker until my head explodes or I run out of paper, whichever comes first.)

So here you go. A page from the coming-soon “Art Out Loud” coloring book. Enjoy!

p.s. If you color this, or any other of my downloadable coloring sheets, be sure to post your masterpiece where I’ll see it. I’m creating a gallery of all your work, and it’s going to be brilliant!

p.p.s. See you back here when the books are available!

Love this butterfly & quote! Adding it to my collection of your coloring pages. Can’t wait to buy the whole book. (Wish I could be your assistant so you could just spend your time drawing. You could pay me in coloring pages. :-D)

Aw. I wish we could work together… and both spend all our time drawing. xo

Excited for your book! Delays are a natural part of the creating process, whether by procrastination (which I can be guilty of) or by outside factors beyond our control.
Just breathe, relax–you’ve got this! And it will make a wonderful product!

I’m excited too, Karin. And thank you for the encouragement. “You’ve got this” is one of my favorite things to be told. <3

Awesomeness, as usual. I’ve recently adopted the butterfly as my personal totem. I love the idea of beauty emerging from a long period of solitude and transformation. My best wishes on your own new experiences as your colouring book nears its emergence. Much love. xx/oo

Thank you, Della! So much to do still, but I’ve got the rest of today cleared to work on it all. Think good thoughts.

And butterfly? Excellent, perfect, wonderful totem. xoxo

Hi, I just found your page and m so thrilled. I have been a butterfly person my whole life. I am now 86 years old and always have some sort of butterfly on me at all times. My friends have gotten into the habit of giving me butterfly’s for all occasions. I even carried a handkerchief with a crocheted butterfly corner on my wedding day and it was recently carried by two of my granddaughters on their wedding day. Thank you for this version. I am going to paint it on a sweatshirt this winter. It is really very beautiful.

I’m so glad you found me my page too! If you paint this on a sweatshirt, I would LOVE to see your creation! Maybe you can send me a photo. Either way, I’m thrilled that you’re going to do that. It makes me happy to know my art will help keep you warm. 🙂

Love, love, love to color each day if anyway possible. I love finding your sight and get excited each time I read it. To know it’s okay to continue loving to color after 56yrs, is been wonderful to know others love it as much as I do! Thank again auntT
