Hello! I have three announcements for you this week.
First, I made coloring pages that you can download for free!
And before you think you’re too old for coloring, listen to this from Huffington Post.
The practice generates wellness, quietness and also stimulates brain areas related to motor skills, the senses, and creativity… When coloring, we activate different areas of our two cerebral hemispheres. The action involves both logic, by which we color forms, and creativity, when mixing and matching colors. This incorporates the areas of the cerebral cortex involved in vision and fine motor skills. The relaxation that it provides lowers the activity of the amygdala, a basic part of our brain involved in controlling emotion that is affected by stress.
See? Coloring is good for you. It’s science!
Second, I’m very honored and happy to say that, by request of Lisa Bonchek Adams’s family, I will be selling the Find Beauty prints and note cards again. Like before, these will be limited editions, available only through June, and I will donate all profits to Lisa’s Sloan-Kettering Metastatic Breast Cancer reasearch fund. I hope you will consider buying art for the cause.
Last, several people have asked if I would post work-in-progress photos of my daily meditation doodles. The good news is, I already do that on Instagram. You don’t have to be a member; my account is public. Here’s my latest, featuring a beautiful quote from Gloria Steinem. “Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.”
I love that.
I chose the quote having randomly happened upon it, and as it turns out, ten days later, I finished this doodle on Gloria Steinem’s birthday. That’s weird and wonderful, I think, in a universe-dancing sort of way.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
Find a bit of beauty.
